Jackson Marine Sold to BoatClubsAmerica
July 17, 2006 (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) – Naples based marina developer BoatClubsAmerica, LLC, has purchased Fort Lauderdale’s Jackson Marine Center with plans of redeveloping the 12-acre New River site into a World-class marina. Current redevelopment plans will include Wet Slips and Boathouse Slips for purchase for more than 300 boat owners. The marina has been named Ft Lauderdale BoatClub.
“We are very excited to have a marina property in the Fort Lauderdale market,” said Ed Ruff, president of BoatClubsAmerica. “We have completed two marina projects in Naples and have begun construction on a third marina in Ft. Myers. We think this market is a perfect match for our boat club concept.”
Prior to the start of redevelopment and construction, the marina will continue to operate in the same capacity with boat storage. The Jackson family will continue to operate their service, parts and repair center. In addition, the seven other marine contractors who operate from the boatyard will continue to work on site at Ft Lauderdale BoatClub.
“Our plans for redevelopment include a state-of-the-art Service Center with enclosed “clean space” work bays,” said Ruff. “Keeping service on the properties we redevelop is a major component in what we call our boat club formula. Every inch of property will be reconstructed from the ground up. The new service and repair facilities will be exceptional compared to anything else that exists in the market.”
Current plans for redevelopment of Ft Lauderdale BoatClub include 300 boathouse slips for purchase, fourteen in-water slips for purchase, and 1,000 feet of in-water docking for repair and property operations. Owners will be able to enjoy a number of amenities on the property including a 4,000-square-foot club house, pool, outside bar area, billiard room, extensive locker room and laundry facilities and owner’s lounge complete with business conference center. The new Service and Parts Center, combined with the retail space will encompass over 80,000 square feet. “
All of the existing services will stay available to boaters as we continue to work on the new design and permitting for Ft Lauderdale BoatClub,” said Ruff. “Having the Jackson family stay on the site to offer service and parts is a great benefit to boaters accustomed to doing business on the property.”
“Once our redevelopment plans are finalized, we will begin to sell the Boathouse Slips and Wet Slips,” said Ruff. “We anticipate this happening in early 2007.”
Jackson Marine Sales, Inc. has been in the boating business since 1954.
